Note from the Editors
Dear Reader,
What follows through the buttons below is the first issue of the thirty-seventh volume of Ignatian, a curated selection of works of fiction, nonfiction, and poetry. Each literary work has been carefully paired with a work of visual art in a way we hope creates a beautiful synergy of word and art piece.
We cannot go any further without thanking the many people who made this issue of Ignatian possible. Our first thanks must go, as always, to the Ignatian staff that brought the issue to its final state. The quality of the issue reflects the quality of our staff, and we are extremely proud of both. In particular, we thank our genre editors, Daliah Bawarshi, Sofía Gamboa, and Jade Han, for their discerning eyes and judgement. We also extend our gratitude to Sarah Badawi, our events chair, Reina Barbosa, our publicity chair, and Jude Boland, our design chair, for their support of the community behind Ignatian. The contributions of our graduate advisor, Victoria Crowe, and this year’s faculty advisor, Dean Rader, must also not go unnoticed. Thanks also go to our English department program assistant, Kimberly Garrett. Lastly, we are beyond grateful to authors and artists featured in this issue for sharing their art with us all.
We hope you find the same enjoyment in reading this issue as we did in making it.
Callan Cimino and Imogene Tomicic, Editors in Chief

Issue and genre cover art by Zoe Nikolopoulou
Zoe Nikolopoulou is a self-taught watercolor artist from Athens, Greece. She is also a poet and translator watching inspiration taking shape into paper. She grew up surrounded by nature and was constantly drawing and painting as a child, hobbies which she pursued into adulthood. She discovered the magic of watercolors and continued to experiment with them after studying English literature and computer science. Soon after, she opened an NFT account to promote herself. Her lifelong passion for art and nature—combined with a keen eye for detail—have helped her forge a personal belief: the dreams are at our fingertips.
